Clear for iPhone update adds 7 new unlockable themes
Calendar16 Mon, 23 Apr 2012 13:40:01 UTC +00:00
Clear is an awesome and incredibly simple task/to-do list manager for iOS. Instead of using on-screen buttons, users of the Clear service pinch and swipe their way through a minimalist task list to manage the to-dos of the day. To-Do list managers quickly get a bit dull, however, which leads to reduced usage by all but the dedicated organizer. Clear gets it, and with an update today has added 7 new unlockable themes to the application. This brings the total number of unlockable themes up to 10 (that we know of), each of which bringing a unique color scheme to Clear. So how do you get your hands on the themes, you ask? [Warning: Spoilers abound] Personally, I haven’t found a To-Do list application that I can really stick to, so it’s nice to see companies like Clear attempting to engage users of its application in a meaningful way. Unlocking the Gaming Secrets of 'Clear' in New Update
Calendar16 Mon, 23 Apr 2012 12:00:44 UTC +00:00
Back when Supermono released EpicWin [$2.99], its to-do list RPG, we spent some time contemplating whether adding game mechanics to productivity apps would really help people be more productive. That's the question that rests at the heart of all discussions about "gamification"—do carefully tuned game mechanics drive us to perform tasks we might otherwise ignore? Has Farmville claimed so many man-hours because it's fun, or because it's designed to feed on impulses that could be better used for good? Don't count it as a blow against gamification, but, personally, EpicWin never quite clicked. I found the experience bars and loot rewards intriguing, but the work I had to put into maintaining my tasks outweighed the benefits. More recently I've found myself back in the world of gamified productivity with the help of a to-do app that doesn't look game-like on the surface at all: Realmac Software's [$1.99]. Beneath all its lovely Read More

Tweetbot for iPhone, iPad Updated with iCloud Sync
Calendar16 Fri, 06 Apr 2012 22:52:05 UTC +00:00
Posted by Jacob Penderworth on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 3:52 pm.   Tapbots, the developer of popular iPhone and iPad Twitter client Tweetbot, has today brought their apps on both devices to version 2.2. This update’s most notable feature is iCloud integration, which synchronizes the timelines, DMs, and mute filters from the app across all your devices automatically. This means that all you have to do is sign in to your iCloud account — which you should already have done when setting up your iOS device — and the Tweetbot app on all your iOS devices will be synced to the same spot you left off on another. It also marks direct messages as read, makes sure certain accounts are muted, etc. If you didn’t know, there was actually a feature like this in the previous version of the app called Tweet Marker. It would perform the same basic function as Read More

New iPhone, iPad and Android Apps for February 2012

Glancee (Free -- iOS, Android) Glancee helps you find people that are nearby. It recognizes other Glancee users based on proximity and gives you an alert when somebody you know or somebody interesting is in your general vicinity. I cannot figure out if this is a really cool way to make serendipitous connections or just kind of creepy and stalker-ish. Think of Glancee as kind of a location-based social network for people you may know or do not know but think you might like to know sometime. MLB At Bat ( Free with $14.99 subscription -- iOS, $14.99 Android) When I was a broke and in college and living away from Boston, the MLB.com mobile site that had pitch-by-pitch tracking was my favorite (and only) way to track the Red Sox on a daily basis in real-time. fev 22 No final do ano passado, o aplicativo oficial do Twitter para iPhone recebeu uma grande atualização com diversas mudanças em sua interface, que uniformizou o serviço em todas as plataformas. Quem usa o serviço e quiser conferir as Read More
Twitter today updated its iPhone app, adding new features and more importantly returning old ones to their former glories. The release, bringing the version number up to 4.1, adds improvements such as better Direct Message handling and improved image quality, but without doubt the two most important features aren’t new at all – Twitter has now returned swipe shortcuts and the ability to copy text to its iPhone app. Both features were removed in a recent app update, much to the annoyance of the app’s users and causing many to jump ship to third-party alternatives such as Tweetbot which recently reached a milestone of its own… The swipe gestures in particular were big misses for many Twitter power users, especially those who find themselves replying to lots of tweets and were left with extra taps required post-update. Now the much loved swipe shortucts have returned, meaning users now have the option to Read More
Twitter has just launched a new app refresh for its mobile apps in Android and iOS, as well as expanded its offerings to the Kindle Fire and the Barnes & Noble NOOK. Returning to the iOS and Android apps is the ability to swipe individual tweets to reveal tweet actions like ‘Reply, ”Retweet, ”Favorite’ and ‘Profile’ — a feature which was initially available in Tweetie, the app that eventually became Twitter for mobile, and then removed inexplicably. Another blast from the past is the ability to copy and paste text of tweets and user profiles, which I for one really missed. One clear sign we live in a post-Pathgate world? The iPhone app now gives you a brusque, “We will securely upload your contacts to help you find friends and suggest users to follow on Twitter” notification when you try to find friends, buried deep under the ‘#Discover’ tab (which I’ll elaborate Read More

Tweetbot ya tiene lista una nueva actualización
Calendar16 Fri, 10 Feb 2012 12:30:04 UTC +00:00
Tweetbot for iPad is Here (And it’s Incredible)
Calendar16 Thu, 09 Feb 2012 04:15:43 UTC +00:00
I use Tweetbot for iPhone as my primary portal to Twitter, and I’ve been following the Tapbots duo of @TapbotPaul and @MarkJardine on Twitter for a while now, and over the past few months, they’ve done their best to make it seem like Tweetbot for iPad was a while away – all the while teasing us with the notion that app #006 was coming soon. Then I logged on earlier this afternoon and saw this @Tweetbot tweet, announcing the release of the app I’d been told not to expect. Oh. One of the things I should mention right off the bat is that Tweetbot for iPad is not a universal app; it’s a completely separate $2.99 purchase, regardless of whether or not you own Tweetbot for iPhone. I always appreciate it when apps become universal after an update, as was the case with apps like Twitterrific and 2Do, but I don’t have Read More
Tweebot 2.0 for iPhone
Calendar16 Wed, 08 Feb 2012 23:40:55 UTC +00:00
Tweetbot for iPhone, the most robotic and least bird-related of all the Twitter clients in the universe, received a major update to v2.0 today (and its parents at Tapbots also birthed a sibling, Tweetbot for iPad, but that’s another story). The change notes above should explain all of the details, but a few highlights are: Read More
Tweetbot Reaches Version 2.0
Calendar16 Wed, 08 Feb 2012 21:21:45 UTC +00:00
Here at 148apps, we’re big fans of . Offering pretty much everything anyone could ever want from a Twitter client, it’s no wonder that we feel that way. I know I’m quietly hopeful that one day a desktop client as good as it will come along. Developers, Tapbot, aren’t ones to rest on their impressive laurels though and the release of 2.0 is upon us. It’s pretty substantial too with numerous new features to check out as well as some great tweaks and improvements. Most noteably is the addition of inline image thumbnails. This means that users can now see a preview of an image before they tap on the link within the tweet, thus saving valuable time. It only works with supported services but that covers sufficient sites making it a feature that no doubt we’ll all be wondering how we lived without it. Links are now colored and activated Read More
Tweetbot lands on iPad, 2.0 version hits iPhone
Calendar16 Wed, 08 Feb 2012 21:27:05 UTC +00:00
One of my favorite ways to access Twitter is through Tweetbot because I feel like it’s an excellent and stylized way to use the micro-blogging service. That’s why I’m very happy to see that Tweetbot has landed on the iPad and that the 2.0 version is now available for the iPhone. Tweetbot is a Twitter client that uses clean, useful designs and subtle sounds to make browsing Twitter an amazing experience. It’s very simple to read through you timelines, open links from tweets and even see the conversation history of tweets. Unlike the new Twitter apps, I believe Tweetbot packs both style and functionality in a neat little package. The iPad app uses the tablet’s space well and you have all the usual actions and gestures that you’re used to if you have the iPhone version. If you’re a newbie, there are some quick instructions which make it simple to understand. Read More
Read More

Six iPhone 4S features you may have missed
Calendar16 Tue, 15 Nov 2011 23:30:00 UTC +00:00
Despite its superficial similarity to the iPhone 4, three landmark features set the iPhone 4S apart from its predecessor: Siri, the new 8 megapixel camera, and the much more powerful A5 processor. The iPhone 4S also comes with a few more subtle design tweaks that differentiate it from the iPhone 4, and you might miss some of those changes if you didn't have an iPhone 4 and 4S sitting side-by-side for a comparison. Phil Schiller actually did talk about the new antenna in the iPhone 4S during the most recent Apple event, but the changes to the iPhone's antenna aren't really obvious until you have the handset in your hands. One of those changes literally requires you to hold the device in your hand before you'll see it: the dreaded "death grip" of the iPhone 4 is gone in the iPhone 4S. A well-known and widely (over)publicized shortcoming of the iPhone Read More

It seems the landscape of Twitter apps has changed quite a bit since I published this post about the best Twitter apps for iPhone, a year and a half ago. Tweetie 2 is now Twitter for iPhone, and it looks like TweetDeck is officially joining the Twitter family as well. A few weeks ago a new Twitter app was released with much noise around it: TweetBot. It was so popular that I decided to give it a try, thinking it might even replace my current favorite Twitter app. It didn’t. TweetBot is too much for me. It’s too busy and overdesigned. After spending a week forcing myself to use TweetBot, I went back to my good ol’ favorite: SimplyTweet… I was given a promo code by the developer over a year ago, but it obviously doesn’t influence the tone of this post at all. This spring edition is one of the longest lists yet - there have been a number of incredible new launches to highlight this past month. (And yes, we know it's May already, these things take time). As a bonus just for this month, we've added a section for new iPad and Honeycomb apps, too. As always, feel free to share your favorite apps in the comments! Fring: Not new, but a new release for both iPhone, Android and Nokia lets users make free group video calls with up to four friends. (Free, multiple app stores) Trapcall: Available for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry, this call screening/call recording/call blocking app lets you see who's calling, even when the number is blocked, plus blacklist callers, record calls and more. Love It!

Please put in an option to delete private message threads & individual PMs as well. Then I may give it 5 stars.

Best f***ing Twitter app ever!
Context is everything
YesNoCancel 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
The ability to easily see a conversation thread (right swipe) and all replies (left swipe) is invaluable. I don't even know how to see the latter in the official Twitter client. Yes, this app is missing a few basic features but give them time. The one crucial missing feature IMO is the ability to login to the url shorteners.
Great!

Slick interface, nice features, very intuitive. I won't be going back to the official twitter app any time soon
Best Twitter App Out
Anthony Konechnik 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I never write reviews and all I have to say about this app is wow. Great multi-touch user interface, has all the customizable settings and perks and it looks, sounds, and feels great to use. Latest update really improved on original version: much faster and little tweaks make this app the best one out!!
Currently the best.

Incredibly fantastic, that's all I have to say.
Awesome, just lacking a few features

There needs to be links to some of the twitter services like on the twitter app. Such as favstar. You cant delete DMs from the app either, which isn't a huge deal, but should be an easy fix. If these two things are fixed, five stars!
Get it

The name complete of official app is superior.
Best Twitter client, hands down
Joseph Bass 5.0 stars Version: 1.8.2
Unlike many others, I don't have too many complaints with Twitter's official app. It's just Tweetbot is better. The developers have style. I never thought sounds would make me like an app more. But, the sounds and clicks and swipes are super awesome. Great app.
Best Twitter app on the AppStore

Updated 12/3 - Conversation view is fixed and now works great, definitely an awesome feature. An excellent twitter app. Still using it over the official app due to the great user interface. Very pleased with the purchase.

Beautiful interface

Like so many others, I has to stop using Twitter's own native app after the last ridiculous "update." Tweetbot is so much better! And I can change the font size! Tweetbot is easy on the eyes and very visually pleasing to use. Kudos to the graphic design team (interior app design; not that creepy screen icon). This is a clean, very user-friendly app with some nice customization options. The only downside is the really creepy screen icon -- it looks like a bird screaming in pain. Please change it! (Or give us more than one option.)Otherwise this is a terrific app; I almost never pay for apps, but this one is worth it.

Another great app from a class developer.
Super-great.
Anastasios Georgakis 5.0 stars Version: 1.8.2
Super-great. Fun UI. Conversation mode and swipe to reveal replies is such a good implementation. They've been great about fixing bugs. Only one I'm still getting is the light underneath @mentions not wanting to turn off.
Best Twitter App
cjb204 5.0 stars Version: 1.8.2
This is the best Twitter app I've ever used. It's feature-filled, looks nice, and works perfectly.
Fantastic Update Everything Works Perfectly
Andrew Tan 5.0 stars Version: 1.8.2
This has been a huge improvement. Everything works perfectly now, the only thing I wish I could do is to send out updates to all my accounts at once, but it's far from a deal breaker.
great app.

Bug fixes and muting ability! 5-star app now!Currently a bit buggy - gets stuck during scrolling, won't let me press all links, sending a DM gets a "not found" error - but I'm betting these will get fixed next version. Lovely interface and easy to use. Worth the money, for sure. I do wish it had more muting options - like the ability to mute paper.li and Foursquare check-ins - and hope for that functionality down the line.UPDATE: 11/7 why aren't my notifications working? Nothing in app OR on a screen. Minus a star until this is fixed.
